Like at Pascha, Pentecost was a time for baptisms and chrismations. It was, therefore, traditionally preceded by a vigil of scripture readings and prayers, as well as the blessing of the baptismal font, as in the Great Vigil of Pascha. This would have begun on the eve of the feast and run into the early hours of the morning. In an effort to revivify these exultant, sacred, and personally transformative Christian festivals, we will celebrate a shortened version of the Vigil, with the traditional six prophecies, the Litany of Saints, and the First Mass of Pentecost in the night. This will be preceded by two half-hour periods of silent prayer. Overnight accommodations available upon request. Please contact us if planning to attend.
