Worship with us at Saint Herman of Alaska Orthodox Christian Church at Cloud-Bearing Mountain Christian Retreat Center, Moriah, New York where the Adirondack Mountains meet the Lake Champlain Valley. We are easily accessed from the Champlain Valley towns on both the New York and Vermont sides. We are an easy drive from Port Henry, Crown Point, Westport, Ticonderoga, and Elizabethtown, New York, as well as from Middlebury and Vergennes, VT, and about an hour from Burlington, VT; Lake Placid, NY; Plattsburgh NY; and Whitehall, NY.

The Orthodox Church is the reconstituted Israel authenticated at Pentecost. In the mind of God before the foundation of the world, the purpose of Israel (the Church of God) is the salvation and sanctification of the world (Genesis 12:2-3, etc., Deuteronomy 4:10, etc.; Isaiah 42:6, 49:6, etc.; Ephesians 1:4, 3:10-11). Established in Jesus Christ and continued by his Apostles, it is the same Church described in the Bible as the assembly, the Body of Christ, and the Bride of Christ (Deuteronomy 4:10, etc.; 1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 5:23–25). The Church of God is a real, visible, embodied community of one mind in faith and morals both locally in the parish and throughout the world (John 13:35, 17:22-23; Acts 15; Romans 15:5-6; 2 Corinthians 5:20; 1 Peter 3:8-9). Throughout its 2000-year history Orthodox Christianity has remained faithful to the teachings and practices passed on by the Apostles and early Church Fathers (2 Thessalonians 2:15). It proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ, sanctifies its adherents and the world through the sacraments instituted by God in love for his creation, and it serves humanity through charitable endeavors. We claim to preach nothing new—no faddish doctrines or private opinions—but Jesus Christ who is the same yesterday, today, and unto the ages of ages (Hebrews 13:8).

We are in the Jurisdiction of the RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH OUTSIDE OF RUSSIA (ROCOR), under the direct pastoral guidance of His Eminence Metropolitan NICHOLAS in the WESTERN RITE ORTHODOX DIOCESE. We worship in English using the ancient and beautiful rites that took shape in the Latin-speaking West when it was still fully Orthodox, including the use of Gregorian chant. These rites are the religious and cultural heritage of all peoples of Western European descent.

Children are welcome.

In sympathy with the people of Ukraine, we pray that a spirit of Christian charity prevail for a speedy end of all conflict in that holy land.
